In view of the impending Panchayat elections in West Bengal and subsequent Lok Sabha elections, the supremo of the state's ruling party Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has started the exercise to keep the tribal vote bank in her court. In the middle of February, she will go to Jangalmahal for three days.
Party sources have said that on February 15, at 3 pm, she will reach Purulia by helicopter from Ranchi via Jamshedpur. Here, after the night stay at the Circuit House, on the second day on February 16, an administrative public meeting will be held at Paschim Medinipur College ground. The Chief Minister will also hold another administrative public meeting at Simulia Battery Ground in Purulia at 2 pm.
After that she will return to Purulia Circuit House. She will go to Bankura by helicopter on February 17 at 11 am. There will be an administrative meeting around 12 noon.
After this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will return back to Kolkata. This is a tribal dominated area which is always keeping distance from Mamata Banerjee. The Bharatiya Janata Party has been winning every Lok Sabha election from here. Mamata has already mobilized so that this does not happen this time also.
Sources have told that during the administrative meeting, the Chief Minister may give instructions to give benefits of caste certificates and other government schemes to the tribal community. The special thing is that under the Lakshmi Bhandar Yojana, the women of the tribal community are given one thousand rupees monthly while the rest of the women get only five hundred rupees.
