China is set to reinstate its 15-day visa-free entry for citizens of Singapore and Brunei, according to announcements made by its embassies in the respective countries.
The decision comes after a suspension of more than three years, which was implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The visa-free entry will facilitate various travel purposes, including business trips, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends, and transit through China. This move is expected to boost tourism and strengthen bilateral ties between the nations.
China had taken stringent measures to combat the pandemic and protect its population from the virus. In December, the country began gradually easing its zero-COVID policies, signaling a return to normalcy. However, it was not until March that China resumed issuing tourist visas.
This development is not only significant for Singapore and Brunei but also aligns with China's efforts to promote reciprocal visa-free travel for its own citizens to Singapore.
