Chris Gayle reveals

In a candid and surprising revelation, legendary T20 cricketer Chris Gayle, famously known as the "Universe Boss," has opened up about his acrimonious departure from the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) in the Indian Premier League. Despite being one of the most destructive batsmen in the history of the game, Gayle claims that he felt a deep sense of "disrespect" during his time with the franchise, to the point that it led him to a state of near-depression.

Gayle was a key player for the Punjab Kings from 2018 to 2021, featuring primarily as an opening batsman. Over his 41 matches with the team, he amassed 1,304 runs at an impressive average of 40.75 and a blistering strike rate of 148.65. His performance was highlighted by a century and eleven half-centuries, including an unbeaten 104, cementing his position as a crucial part of the team's batting lineup.

However, the on-field success did not translate into a positive experience off the field. Gayle expressed his bitterness, stating that he felt he was not treated with the respect a senior player of his stature deserved. He lamented that the franchise handled him "like a kid," which deeply hurt his sentiments and professionalism. This feeling of being undervalued, he revealed, was so profound that it took a significant emotional toll on him.

Gayle went on to share a deeply personal moment, admitting that he broke down while speaking with the then-head coach, Anil Kumble. The emotional conversation underscored how disappointed he was with both Kumble and the overall management of the franchise. For a player known for his larger-than-life persona, this confession highlights the severity of the alleged mistreatment.

In a dramatic account of his final moments with the team, Gayle recounted a phone call with then-captain KL Rahul. Despite Rahul's plea for him to stay, promising him a spot in the next game, Gayle had already made up his mind. He simply thanked Rahul, packed his bags, and walked away from the team, signaling his complete disillusionment with the franchise.
