Dankuni, a locality in the Hooghly district, witnessed turmoil as the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized the Yuva Sankalp Yatra on Sunday. The Hounding Mor area turned into a battleground during the rally, with clashes breaking out between BJP workers and the police, even in the presence of the state BJP president, Sukant Majumdar.
Four BJP workers sustained injuries during the incident and were subsequently admitted to Shrirampur Walsh Hospital, with one worker reported to be in critical condition.Arnab Ghosh, President of the Shrirampur Organizational District BJYM, disclosed that the motorcycle rally, conducted under the leadership of Shrirampur Organizational District BJYM, was intended as part of the Yuva Sankalp Yatra.
The rally, commencing from Dankuni Chowmatha, aimed to reach Domjur but was halted near the housing intersection by the police. The clash ensued as BJP workers confronted the police, breaking barricades. Ghosh claimed that the police, despite prior notification of the event, denied permission at the last moment, accusing them of functioning as agents for the Trinamool Congress.
