Members of the Left student organization SFI protested outside the Howrah District Magistrate’s office against the state’s poor education system and the dismissal of 26,000 teachers labeled "qualified" or "unqualified."
Barricades were set up by the police, and a brief scuffle broke out when protestors attempted to breach them. Later, a delegation entered the DM office and submitted a memorandum demanding that the full list of qualified and unqualified teachers be published. No injuries or arrests were reported during the incident.
