A 20-year-old girl died of suicide in Anaith Mathiya locality under Nawada police station in Bhojpur's Ara on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as Shivani. No suicide note was found at the scene and the reason why she took the extreme step cannot be ascertained, police said.
According to Vishnu Shankar, uncle of the deceased girl, the incident came to light when Shivani's grandmother, who was working downstairs in their house, called her many times, but there was no response. When she went to her room upstairs, she was shocked to find Shivani's body hanging from the ceiling fan.
"We informed the police, who sent the body for postmortem. Shivani used to talk to someone on mobile a lot, but she hid it from me. I don't know why she committed suicide," said Vishnu Shankar, uncle of the deceased girl.
Nawada police station SHO, Avinash Kumar, said on Monday that Shivani, a student of XII class, was the eldest daughter of Shiv Shankar Prasad and Gita Devi, who work in Delhi, while the girl lived with her uncle and grandmother in Ara.
“The girl didn't leave a suicide note. She didn't even share any problem with her family. We have her mobile phone, and we are analyzing its call records (CDR). We will try to find out the circumstances that led to her suicide. A FIR has been filed in this regard and the case is being investigated from all angles,” the SHO said.
