West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally reached out to the family of the deceased junior doctor whose body was found under mysterious circumstances at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and protests among the hospital's medical community, with many alleging foul play.
In a phone call to the grieving family, CM Banerjee expressed her deep condolences and assured them that a thorough investigation would be conducted. She urged the family to have faith in the police, promising that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the tragic incident.
The family of the deceased doctor, however, has expressed their belief that their daughter was subjected to cruel treatment. The body of the 31-year-old junior doctor was found in a semi-naked condition in the seminar hall.
Massive protests have erupted inside and outside RG Kar Hospital following the incident. The police commissioner and health secretary were compelled to hold a three-hour meeting to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. Protesting junior doctors allege that an attempt is being made to label what they believe to be a murder as a suicide.
The incident has also sparked political controversies, with BJP supporters staging protests outside the hospital and AIDSO supporters chanting slogans within the premises. The ongoing demonstrations have caused significant inconvenience to patients and staff, disrupting normal hospital operations.
