West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called an important meeting of the Trinamool Congress on February 27 concerning the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections. In this meeting, there may be an announcement of major changes in the party’s electoral strategy and organizational structure.
The meeting will be held at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium and will be attended by the party’s MPs, MLAs, district presidents, and many other senior leaders. According to sources within the Trinamool Congress, this meeting was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed.
Prior to the meeting, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had an extensive discussion on organizational changes with the party’s national general secretary and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, on Sunday. A senior party leader stated, “In this meeting, Mamata Banerjee could announce major changes in the organization and provide key guidelines regarding election preparations.”
Mamata Banerjee has been continuously urging party leaders to engage with the public and has vowed not to tolerate any negligence. The meeting may also include a review of the performance of MLAs and ministers. According to party sources, leaders who are underperforming might be denied tickets.
After 15 years in power, Mamata Banerjee is planning to present a new and effective team to the public. In this meeting, she may also raise the issue of alleged irregularities in the voter list. She recently alleged that “fake voters” are being added, particularly in the South 24 Parganas district. It is likely that she will instruct party leaders to maintain strict oversight of the electoral roll revision and to take necessary steps.
This important meeting is expected to kick off the process of finalizing the Trinamool Congress’s 2026 election strategy. Mamata Banerjee is moving forward with full determination to become Chief Minister for the fourth time, and this time she is preparing to enter the fray with new changes in the party organization.
