Young table tennis duo of Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick made history by claiming the coveted World No. 1 rank in the Girls’ Doubles (U-19) category of the latest World Table Tennis (WTT) Rankings, released on Tuesday. This landmark achievement places the Indian pair at the summit of global youth table tennis, beating formidable competition from established nations.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led the congratulations, expressing her heartfelt appreciation for the young stars. Syndrela, a trainee of the Dhanuka Dhunseri Soumyadeep Poulomi Table Tennis Academy, Kolkata, along with her partner Divyanshi, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the World No. 1 rank in the Girls’ Doubles (U-19) category of the World Table Tennis Rankings."
The Chief Minister further highlighted the significance of their achievement, noting, "The Indian duo now leads the global standings with 3910 points, ahead of pairs from Chinese Taipei and France — a moment of immense pride for all of us. The remarkable feat was achieved by the consistent performances of the duo, who now lead the global standings with a commanding total of 3,910 points. They stand well ahead of the second-ranked pair from Chinese Taipei, Wu Jia-En and Wu Ying-Syuan (3,195 points), and the French duo of Leana Hochart and Nina Guo Zheng (3,170 points), securing their position as the world's best.
