CM Suvendu Adhikari orders CBI probe in GTA recruitment case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received clearance to investigate the alleged teacher recruitment scam within the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) following approval from the state government. The case pertains to allegations that more than 400 vacant teaching posts in the Hills were filled through illegal recruitment during the tenure of the previous government. The Calcutta High Court had earlier directed the CBI to conduct an investigation into the matter, but the probe could not proceed due to legal complications.

Following the change of government in the state, the necessary approval has now been granted, enabling the central agency to move forward with the investigation. The allegations concern the recruitment process for teaching positions under the GTA, where irregularities were allegedly committed in appointments made to vacant posts. With the legal and administrative hurdles removed, the CBI is now set to proceed with the court-directed inquiry into the alleged recruitment irregularities.
