In his first visit to Mayapur since taking the oath as Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari arrived at the world-renowned ISKCON temple on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Arriving via helicopter from Kolkata, the Chief Minister was warmly received by the monks with traditional garlands. The visit was marked by a series of spiritual activities, beginning with a special yagna ceremony where the Chief Minister sought blessings for the state's prosperity.
A significant portion of his visit was dedicated to the ISKCON Gaushala, where the Chief Minister performed "Gau Seva" or cow service. In a gesture of deep devotion, he washed the feet of the cows with water and personally fed them in the presence of the temple monks. Following this, he proceeded to the Chandrodaya Temple to offer prayers and perform aarti at the Radha Madhav temple, where he was seen prostrating before the deities in a show of profound faith.
The atmosphere at Mayapur was one of high excitement and tight security as the Chief Minister mingled freely with the devotees, exchanging greetings and even hugging several people within the temple premises. He also paid his respects at the shrine of ISKCON founder, Srila Prabhupada. During his stay, the temple authorities arranged "Krishna Prasad" for him and presented him with a symbolic gift of a cow idol to commemorate his visit.
