Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari reportedly postponed an official government programme to avoid disruption of the “Pushtishree Collective Shri Bhagavat Katha” scheduled at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium from May 11 to May 17. According to the organisers, auditorium authorities informed them at around 8 PM that the religious programme scheduled for May 17 could not be held because of a government event linked to the Chief Minister’s schedule. The organisers then sent a letter to the Chief Minister explaining that nearly two thousand people were expected to participate in the collective Bhagavat recitation.
According to the organisers, within approximately thirty minutes of receiving the appeal, the Chief Minister directed HIDCO, the authority overseeing the auditorium, to reschedule the official programme instead of cancelling the religious event. Organiser Rajesh Sadani stated that the Bhagavat Katha would now continue without interruption as originally planned. The organisers described the decision as significant because the government programme was reportedly shifted to a later date to accommodate the previously scheduled religious gathering.
The organisers also pointed out that the terms and conditions for booking government-owned auditoriums mention that reservations may be cancelled at any time without assigning any specific reason. The “Pushtishree Collective Shri Bhagavat Katha” is being conducted at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium over a seven-day period from May 11 to May 17. Following the Chief Minister’s directive, preparations for the concluding day of the event continued as scheduled.
