The Indian Coast Guard on Saturday apprehended three Sri Lankan nationals for allegedly attempting to enter Indian territory illegally. According to an official release, the individuals were intercepted by Coast Guard Hovercraft ACV H197 during routine surveillance near the 4th Island around 0800 hours.
“The ACV swiftly moved and apprehended them,” the release said. “The interrogation established that all three personnel are Sri Lankan nationals attempting illegal migration from Mannar.” The hovercraft was on a standard coastal patrol mission when it spotted the group and initiated the interception.
Following their detention, the three individuals were transported to Mandapam and handed over to the Tamil Nadu Marine Police for further investigation. Authorities are expected to carry out additional inquiries to determine the full circumstances behind the attempted entry.
