Commercial LPG price hiked by Rs.6 across India; New rates for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹6 across Indian cities, as per the latest revision by oil marketing companies (OMCs). Effective from March 1, 2025, the new pricing will impact restaurants, hotels, and other businesses that rely on commercial LPG for daily operations.

Following this hike, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen from ₹1,797 to ₹1,803. In Kolkata, it now costs ₹1,913, while Mumbai and Chennai see revised rates of ₹1,755.50 and ₹1,965, respectively. This change comes after OMCs reduced the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹7 in February.

The price adjustment is expected to slightly increase the operational costs for businesses, though experts believe that the marginal ₹6 hike may not lead to an immediate rise in consumer prices at hotels and restaurants. A sharp increase of ₹352 was recorded in March 2023, while domestic LPG prices have remained unchanged since August 2024.

Oil marketing companies periodically adjust LPG prices based on factors such as international fuel costs, exchange rates, and government policies. However, LPG rates vary across cities due to local taxes and transportation charges. Consumers are advised to check with local gas suppliers for exact pricing in their regions.

Despite the hike, domestic LPG cylinder prices for households have remained steady for several months, offering some relief to general consumers. The government has been closely monitoring the pricing trends to ensure affordability, especially for residential users.

With commercial LPG prices fluctuating frequently, business owners are adapting to these cost changes while maintaining service affordability. Industry experts suggest that any further increase in commercial LPG rates may impact small and medium-sized businesses, potentially leading to cost-cutting measures in various sectors.
