In a significant development, a complaint has been filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, along with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and others, for allegedly making inflammatory statements regarding the caste of President Droupadi Murmu during the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The complaint accuses them of promoting enmity among communities and attempting to create distrust in the government to further their political motives.
The complaint, lodged under sections 121, 153A, 505, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), alleges that Kejriwal, Kharge, and their associates deliberately made derogatory remarks aimed at President Murmu, with the intention of inciting division among different communities and groups within society.
The controversy arose during the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building, where President Murmu, along with several prominent political figures, was present. It is alleged that both Kejriwal and Kharge, in their speeches, made references to the caste of the President, attempting to create a sense of animosity and mistrust towards the Government of India.
The complaint further asserts that such remarks are a violation of the Indian Penal Code, specifically sections 121 (waging, or attempting to wage war against the government of India), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
