The Congress party in anticipation of the INDIA bloc meeting held a crucial session with senior leaders of the UPCC in Delhi on Monday, under the leadership of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. The discussions centered around key aspects, including the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 election, a seat-sharing arrangement with the Samajwadi Party, plans to fortify the party organization, and the launch of the U.P. Jodo Yatra from Saharanpur district in West UP starting December 20.
UPCC president Ajay Rai disclosed that the Congress leadership contemplated contesting the Lok Sabha election from traditional strongholds - Amethi, Rae Bareli, and Prayagraj. Emphasizing the enduring bond between the Gandhi family, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, with the constituencies, Rai expressed a commitment to strengthen these ties further in the upcoming election.
The agenda also included discussions on seat-sharing with the Samajwadi Party and other alliance partners for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The meeting concluded with the announcement of the U.P. Jodo Yatra, scheduled to commence on December 20 from the Sakumbhari Devi temple in Saharanpur district, with its culmination at Shaheed Smarak in Lucknow. Key Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other prominent figures, participated in the deliberations.
