The South Kolkata District Congress Committee held a protest at Hazra More today, demanding action against corruption in the state government. The protest was initially planned for the Alipur DM office but was redirected due to lack of police permission.
The Congress party raised concerns over growing religious polarization and political unrest in West Bengal. Protesters criticized the state government's failure to address intolerance and religious provocation, citing the situation in Murshidabad’s Shamsherganj, where police inaction has caused distress.
They called for immediate government intervention to restore peace and protect communal harmony. The Congress also condemned the Pahalgam massacre, expressing condolences to the victims’ families, and demanded urgent action to prevent further violence and corruption in the state.
