The Congress on Monday staged a gherao of the Election Commission, alleging that names of genuine voters were being removed under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Amid tight security arrangements, Congress supporters were stopped by the police outside the Election Commission office, preventing them from reaching the premises. Addressing party workers during the protest, the state Congress president accused the Commission of enforcing a “black law” and asserted that the party would oppose its implementation under any circumstances.
