Congress throw eggs at BJP office, burn effigies to celebrate National Herald Case victory

West Bengal Pradesh Congress President Subhankar Sarkar led a high-decibel protest march on Wednesday, celebrating what the party calls a victory in the National Herald case. Following a press conference at College Square, the rally moved through Central Avenue, serving as a direct challenge to the Central Government’s alleged "vengeful politics." Sarkar used the platform to address journalists, asserting that the truth has finally prevailed against the targeted harassment of senior Congress leadership.

The atmosphere turned volatile as the march reached the BJP state headquarters at Muralidhar Sen Lane. Hundreds of Congress supporters gathered outside the office, raising slogans such as "Vote Chor Modi" and voicing their anger against the Prime Minister. The protest saw dramatic scenes as workers burnt effigies and threw eggs toward the BJP party office, necessitating a heavy police presence to manage the growing tension.

During his address, Subhankar Sarkar accused the NDA government of systematically using central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to stifle opposition voices. He claimed that the constant pressure on rivals is a deliberate attempt to silence those who speak for the people. This protest marks a significant escalation in the ongoing political friction between the Congress and the BJP in West Bengal.
