Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
A political controversy has erupted following PM Narendra Modi's attendance at Ganpati Puja celebrations held at the residence of CJI DY Chandrachud. The Shiv Sena (UBT) raised concerns over the possible impact of the visit on public perception of judicial impartiality.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut expressed doubts, "a custodian of the Constitution" meeting politicians could raise doubts in the minds of people.
"Our case of Maharashtra... the hearing is going on before CJI Chandrachud, so we have doubts if we will get justice because the PM is the other party in the case," said Raut. He further suggested that CJI Chandrachud should recuse himself from the case.
Hitting back at the opposition, the BJP said PM Modi's visit was restricted to Ganpati Puja celebrations, and it was a "part of our culture".
On Wednesday, PM Modi attended the Ganpati Puja at the Chief Justice's Delhi residence, where he was welcomed by CJI Chandrachud and his wife.
