Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Thirteen years after being convicted in the Park Street gang rape case, Nasir Khan’s name has surfaced again — this time in another sexual assault case. A woman has accused Nasir and his associate, Junaid Khan, of molesting her at a nightclub in a Kolkata hotel on the EM Bypass. The incident took place on October 26, when the complainant had gone to the club with her husband.
According to the complaint filed at the Bidhannagar South Police Station, the woman alleged that Nasir and Junaid molested her on the dance floor. The victim, a resident of Tiljala, later identified Nasir as one of her assaulters and told the police he was the same man convicted in the 2012 Park Street gang rape case. Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and initiated the process of serving notices to the accused.
Sources said investigators are examining whether the accused and the victim knew each other before the incident. The case has stirred public outrage, given Nasir Khan’s criminal past. He, along with others, was convicted in 2015 for the brutal gang rape of Suzette Jordan in a moving car after a night out in 2012 — an incident that shook the entire state. Nasir was released from prison after serving two years, but his reappearance in another molestation case has reignited debates over repeat offenders and justice reforms.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and statements from witnesses and the hotel staff are being recorded to verify the victim’s claims.
