Cop who danced at holi party removed from Tej Pratap’s security

A police constable assigned to the security detail of RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has been removed from duty after a video surfaced showing him being forced to dance during Holi celebrations at the leader’s residence in Patna. The constable, Deepak Kumar, has been sent to police lines with immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Patna.

The controversial incident took place at the official residence of Tej Pratap Yadav, the Hasanpur MLA and son of former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. In the viral video, Yadav can be seen seated on a makeshift stage, holding a microphone, and ordering the constable to dance or face suspension.

"Ae sipahi, ae Deepak, abhi ek gana bajaenge jis par tumko thumka lagana padega. Nahin lagaoge to tumko suspend kar denge. Bura na maano Holi hai" (Hey policeman Deepak, we are going to play a song on which you shall perform a pelvic thrust. If you do not, you will be suspended. Don't mind, it's Holi), Tej Pratap Yadav was heard saying before music began playing.

While Deepak Kumar did not perform a full-fledged dance, he hopped a few times and raised his hand in response to Yadav’s command. The act was caught on camera and quickly went viral, leading to outrage on social media and criticism from various quarters.

This is not the first time Tej Pratap Yadav has been involved in Holi-related controversies. In scenes reminiscent of his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s "Kapda Fad Holi", Yadav was seen tearing the clothes of supporters and riding a scooter on Patna’s streets without a helmet. His ride also had political undertones, as he was heard shouting "Happy Holi Paltu Chacha," a taunt aimed at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Patna Traffic Police fined the owner of the scooter Rs 4,000 for multiple violations, including riding without a helmet, not having a Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), and lacking valid insurance.

With the controversy growing, authorities acted swiftly to remove Deepak Kumar from Yadav’s security team, replacing him with another officer. However, the incident has once again sparked debate over the behavior of politicians and the treatment of security personnel in Bihar.
