"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
A tense situation erupted at the residence of Janataa Unnayan Party chairman and MLA Humayun Kabir in Shaktipur, Murshidabad, on Sunday morning. The conflict began when Constable Zumma Khan, who serves as Kabir’s personal security guard, filed a formal complaint at the Shaktipur police station. Khan alleged that he was physically assaulted by Humayun’s son, Golam Nabi Azad (alias Sohel), after he approached the MLA to request a few days of leave.
Following the complaint, a large police contingent reached the Shaktipur house for investigation. According to police sources, Humayun’s son has been detained for questioning regarding the alleged assault. The incident has caused a stir in the local political circle, especially given Kabir's recent history of public disagreements with the state police administration. The police are currently recording statements from witnesses and checking if any physical injuries were sustained by the constable.
However, Humayun Kabir has vehemently denied the allegations of assault. He claimed that the security guard behaved rudely and had attempted to attack him in his office without permission. According to the MLA, his son did not beat the guard but merely "pushed him out" of the room to protect his father. Kabir further alleged that this is part of a larger conspiracy against him and questioned why the police raided his house without a prior formal notice.
