Mamata Banerjee has declared total assets worth ₹15.4 lakh, including ₹75,700 in cash and 9.8 grams of gold jewellery, in her election affidavit filed ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. The affidavit shows that she continues to remain among the least wealthy chief ministers in the country, with no ownership of property, land, or vehicles.
According to the affidavit, her total income for the financial year 2024–25 stands at ₹23.2 lakh, reflecting a modest increase over the past five years. The document indicates that her primary sources of income are royalties from her books and interest earned from bank deposits. She maintains personal and election-related bank accounts with a combined balance of nearly ₹13 lakh.
The affidavit further confirms that she has no liabilities, loans, or pending criminal cases. Despite being eligible for salary and pension as a legislator and former Member of Parliament, she has stated that she does not draw these benefits. Contesting once again from the Bhowanipore constituency, her financial disclosures show minimal change in overall assets compared to previous elections.
