An incident involving a couple took place near Bisaraj Ghat under the Lake Town Police Station, where they were targeted by a group of local youths. The couple, who live in Patipukur, was returning home after participating in a Kali Puja idol immersion ritual when they encountered several young men. Allegedly, these individuals made derogatory comments directed at the woman regarding her appearance.
When the woman’s husband intervened to protest the remarks, he was reportedly attacked by three youths from the group. During the altercation, both the woman and her husband sustained injuries. The woman’s screams for help alerted officers from the Lake Town Police Station, who responded to the scene. Upon their arrival, the group of youths fled, but police were able to apprehend two suspects, identified as Sahil Ansari and Siraj Ansari, based on the woman’s complaint.
Following the incident, the couple filed a written complaint at the Lake Town Police Station, prompting the police to initiate an investigation. Officers arrested three individuals in connection with the incident: Ravi Rajbhar, Manoj Rajbhar, and Siraj Hossain. All three suspects are residents of Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas. They have been charged with multiple offenses, including molestation and assault, related to their actions during the confrontation.
The three arrested individuals are scheduled to appear before the Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Court on Monday for legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the Lake Town Police are continuing their investigation to determine if there are additional suspects involved in the incident. The police have stated that they are committed to thoroughly investigating the matter to ensure that appropriate actions are taken based on the findings of their inquiry.
