In a significant development in the much-discussed liquor policy case, Rouse Avenue Court on Friday acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of corruption charges. The court held that there was insufficient evidence to proceed against the two leaders.
Delivering its verdict, the court observed that the prosecution had failed to establish charges of criminal conspiracy and corruption. It underlined that criminal charges cannot be framed against any individual in the absence of concrete and credible evidence.
Following the ruling, the Aam Aadmi Party described the verdict as a “victory of truth.” The judgment is expected to have significant political implications, as it brings relief to the party’s top leadership amid prolonged legal and political battles.
