Disruption in metro services between Dumdum and Dakshineswar; normal services resume after 2 hours
The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to forward the interim report on alleged COVID-19 procurement irregularities to a team of officials led by the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) for further assessment. The report was submitted by a Commission headed by retired High Court judge Justice Michael D’Cunha to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on August 30.
The Commission was formed to investigate irregularities during the pandemic, particularly under the previous BJP government. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil revealed that the report highlighted mismanagement worth "hundreds of crores," with many key files related to Covid management missing.
Patil explained that the review team will further analyze the findings and submit their recommendations to the Cabinet. The interim report may also be tabled in the next session of the state legislature for further discussion.
