The CPI(M) wants to return to the field of parliamentary politics in the state, meaning they aim to cross the threshold of zero and make a comeback. To achieve this, the CPI(M) intends to adopt a similar approach to that of the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. A professional organization has prepared a comprehensive report on the CPI(M), which was presented on stage at the party’s state conference. Now, on one hand, the CPI(M) wants to strengthen its IT cell, while on the other, it is relying on advice from professional organizations.
However, the CPI(M), which once depended on people to connect from villages to cities, has shifted away from that approach. That is why, on the third day of the state conference, a PowerPoint presentation was used to highlight the weaknesses of the party. Meanwhile, the CPI(M), which was once dominant at the booth level across Bengal, now finds itself in a difficult position. At the booth level, there is practically no organizational structure left. This time, the CPI(M) is attempting to rebuild its booth-level organization, with the help of professional organizations. As a result, a timeline was set during the state conference for the formation of booth-level committees.
However, CPI(M)’s state secretary, Mohammad Salim, claimed that this professional organization is not working for money. The Trinamool Congress sought assistance from IPAC, the BJP takes help from professional organizations and also has its own IT cell. Now, the CPI(M) has chosen to follow the same path. The question arises—will they be able to move beyond their current zero-seat position this time?
On the other hand, a professional organization closely associated with Mohammad Salim presented a report at the state conference. The report revealed why the Left has been gradually weakening in every sector and pinpointed the real areas of weakness. According to CPI(M) sources, election results from each booth over the past 15 years will be analyzed. The CPI(M) will assess how many votes each booth had 15 years ago, how the numbers changed, why the vote share declined, what the current situation is, and which party has gained the most votes in that time. This decision was taken based on the report presented by the professional organization.
Once this information is gathered, the party has decided to use it as a tool for targeted movements. Additionally, discussions were held on changes in election campaign strategies. The 27th CPI(M) State Conference concluded today. A few months ago, Mohammad Salim had posted advertisements on social media, seeking professionals in various fields, including data analysis and digital marketing.
The state conference provided evidence that the recruitment process has been completed and that the newly hired team has already started working. The CPI(M), which once opposed the introduction of computers in Bengal, is now dependent on technology and social media for everything. That is why some people jokingly say, "This is what we call moving with the times."
