CPI(M) releases first list of candidates; fields Bikash Ranjan from Jadavpur, Faiyaz Ahmed from Kolkata Port

The Left Front on Monday released its first list of candidates for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Election, announcing nominees across many constituencies in the state. The list features candidates from several alliance partners, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the All India Forward Bloc, the Revolutionary Socialist Party, and the Communist Party of India.

In the northern districts, candidates have been declared for multiple constituencies, including Mekliganj, Mathabhanga, Coochbehar Uttar, Dinhata, Tufanganj, Kumargram, and Siliguri. The CPI(M) has fielded candidates in many of these seats, while alliance partners such as the AIFB and RSP have also been allotted constituencies in line with the seat-sharing arrangement within the Left Front.

The list also covers several constituencies in central and southern parts of the state, including areas across North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, and Kolkata. Notable nominees include candidates for Jadavpur, Behala Purba, Dum Dum, Rajarhat New Town,n and Barrackpur, reflecting the alliance’s focus on urban as well as semi-urban constituencies.

Further candidates have been declared for constituencies across Howrah, Hooghly, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, and Jhargram districts. Seats such as Tamluk, Haldia, Kharagpur Sadar, Debr, and Ghatal are among those where the alliance has announced its nominees in the first phase of its candidate declaration.

The candidate list also extends to districts like Purulia, Bankura, Bardhaman, AAsansoland Birbhum, with nominees announced for constituencies including Bardhaman Dakshin, Raniganj, Jamuria, Suri, and Rampurhat. The announcement marks the formal beginning of the Left Front’s electoral preparations for the 2026 assembly elections in West Bengal.
