Cristiano Ronaldo tops forbes' list of highest-earning athletes in 2023

Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has secured the top spot on Forbes' list of the world's highest-earning athletes for 2023, with earnings exceeding ₹2165 crore. Ronaldo's on-field earnings alone amount to a staggering $260 million, supplemented by significant off-field income.

According to Forbes' rankings released recently, Ronaldo's earnings comprise $200 million from his contract with Al-Nassr and an additional $60 million from off-field ventures. Despite being 39 years old and nearing the end of his career, Ronaldo's popularity and earnings have soared, particularly since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023. His lucrative contract with the Saudi Arabian club propelled him to second place in the league standings, behind Al Hilal. Joining Ronaldo in the top ranks are golfer Jon Rahm in second place with $198 million in earnings solely from wages, and Lionel Messi in third place with total earnings of $135 million, including $70 million from off-field ventures. Notably, this year marks the first time since 2019 that no female athletes have made it into Forbes' top 50 list.
