Violent clashes between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Indian Secular Front (ISF) supporters erupted in Bhangar, West Bengal, late Friday night and continued into the morning of polling day. The violence began over the hoisting of party flags in Chandi Hat village, with both sides accusing each other of obstruction and assault. TMC claimed that ISF supporters attacked their workers, resulting in injuries that required treatment at Jirengacha Primary Health Center. In response, ISF alleged that TMC workers prevented them from raising their flags and vandalized the car of ISF candidate Noor Alam Khan.
The unrest spread to other areas, including Ranigachi and Phulbari, where further altercations resulted in more injuries and police intervention. ISF claimed TMC attacked their workers with "bamboo and sharp weapons" while they were trying to install booth agents. TMC denied the allegations, accusing ISF of similar violence.
Reportedly, crude bombs were also hurled by the supporters of both parties. When the police reached the spot, protests broke out as both parties hurled allegations against each other and the police had to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the mob. Some crude bombs were also recovered from the area
