CSK complains to BCCI over ‘dosa idli’ song at RCB home ground, probe underway

A controversy has emerged in the Indian Premier League after Chennai Super Kings lodged a formal complaint with the Board of Control for Cricket in India against the use of a song and remarks during their away match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The complaint centres around the playing of a “dosa, idli, sambar” themed track—often associated with regional stereotypes—before CSK’s innings. The franchise termed the act “not in good taste,” further alleging that comments made by the stadium DJ over the public address system targeted their players, crossing the line of acceptable match-day entertainment. Confirming the development, IPL officials stated that the governing council has taken note of the complaint and will review the matter. CSK management emphasised that while DJs are expected to support the home team, they should not undermine or insult opposition players or fans, maintaining that stadium engagement must remain respectful.

The incident adds fresh tension to the already intense rivalry between CSK and RCB, often referred to as the Southern Derby. The clash has grown more heated in recent years, both on and off the field, with fan altercations and competitive results further fuelling the divide between the two franchises.
