Culprit in Malda minor rape case arrested in Bihar within hours

A 12-year-old Class 6 student was allegedly lured by her male neighbor to an empty house and sexually assaulted in the afternoon. The girl returned home in distress and was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed her condition. Her family filed a complaint that evening, triggering immediate police action.

Authorities formed a special team and, leveraging technical surveillance, tracked the accused who had fled to Purnia in neighboring Bihar. The youth was apprehended the same night, demonstrating commendable inter-state coordination. Malda Additional Superintendent of Police Maqsood Hasan assured a speedy trial and strict punishment.
