Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The Cyber Police Station, Kolkata, arrested five persons on January 9 in connection with a case involving alleged online cheating under the false pretext of providing loans under the PM Mudra Yojana. The arrests were made following a raid conducted under the jurisdiction of Purba Jadavpur Police Station.
The action was taken in reference to Cyber Police Station Case No. 02 dated January 7, 2026, registered under multiple sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The raid followed interrogation of accused persons earlier taken into custody, based on whose statements further leads were developed.
According to police, the arrested individuals were active members of the gang allegedly involved in duping people by promising easy loans under the PM Mudra Yojana. The accused have been identified as Amir Khan of Bihar and Rathin C. D., Md. Nizamuddin Siddiqui, Vilas Shinde, and Madhusudhan H. R. from Karnataka.
The arrests were made between 7:50 pm and 8:11 pm from a room on the second floor of a building at Nitai Nagar in the Purba Jadavpur area of Kolkata. Police seized eight Android mobile phones and six keypad mobile phones from their possession. All accused persons will be produced before the competent court on Saturday.
