Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The government informed the Rajya Sabha that cybercrime incidents against women saw a sharp rise in 2025, with over 76,650 complaints reported on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. This marks an increase of 28,322 cases compared to 2024.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the complaints include online abuse, sexually explicit content, cyberstalking, and rape-related abusive material. Among these, cases related to sexually obscene material were the highest, followed by explicit acts, child sexual abuse content, and rape-related online abuse.
The data also showed a broader rise in online and social media-related crimes, including fake profiles, identity theft, and cyberbullying. The government stated that while law and order is a state subject, the Centre is supporting states through financial assistance, training, and initiatives to strengthen cybercrime prevention and response mechanisms.
