On Saturday, a group of government workers marched in Kolkata demanding Dearness Allowance (DA) on the 100th day of their movement.
The procession began at 1 pm from Hazra Mor in South Kolkata, with workers traveling by bus from various districts to join the march. The Hazra Chatwar was filled with songs and slogans as they marched. The Sangamri Joint Manch, which is leading the movement, has planned to march through the road in front of Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee's house.
The Calcutta High Court has allowed the procession to take place along Harish Mukherjee Road, but with certain conditions, including maintaining peace.
The government workers have been protesting for DA, which is a cost of living adjustment paid to government employees and pensioners, and have been demanding an increase in the rate from the current 17% to 28%.
