DA Movement: Police and protesters clash near Nabanna

In a tense confrontation near the West Bengal Secretariat, Nabanna, a clash erupted between the police and state government employees protesting for a Dearness Allowance (DA) increase.

The group, affiliated with the government employees' organization 'Sangamari Sangam Manch,' attempted to stage a dharna at Nabanna bus stand on Thursday night, following the Calcutta High Court's conditional permission.

However, the police reportedly obstructed the protest, leading to a retreat. Despite the court's clearance, tensions escalated on Friday morning when the protesters, demanding space in accordance with the court order, were initially blocked by police barricades. A dispute ensued when the police asked them to vacate the road.
