DA Row: Bengal Govt employees announce administrative strike on March 9

Government employees who are demanding the release of their outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) escalated their protests by announcing an administrative strike on March 9th. This strike is expected to be joined by several government employee organizations across the state.

Earlier this week, the employees had taken a two-day work break by reporting to work on time but not carrying out their regular duties. As many as 32 organizations took part in the 2-day pen-down strike.

Vishwajit Gupta Chowdhary, representing the Coordination Committee of government employee organizations, has stated that the administrative strike is being called for three demands. The first demand is for the immediate release of the outstanding dearness allowance.

The second demand is for transparent and unbiased administrative operations, without any discrimination based on politics. The third demand is for vacant government posts to be filled in a transparent manner.

However, the government employee federation affiliated with the ruling Trinamool Congress party has opposed the strike call on March 9th. The organization's spokesperson, Manoj Chakraborty, has stated that they do not support work stoppages or strikes, and they believe that every problem should be resolved through dialogue.
