Valentine’s day rose prices soar in Bengal; Dutch roses hit ₹60 amid high demand
A mishap occurred during the construction of an overbridge on the Durgapur National Highway in the Dankuni area of West Bengal. A portion of the casting collapsed while welding the grade railing of the under-construction overbridge, leaving one person seriously injured.
Eyewitnesses reported that the injured individual, employed as a security guard, was managing traffic under the bridge to ensure public safety during the construction. The accident caused temporary disruption to traffic in the area, leading to a chaotic situation.
Dankuni police quickly arrived at the scene after being informed, while the injured guard was rushed to Srirampur Wals Hospital for urgent medical attention. His condition remains critical.
Local residents have alleged that substandard materials are being used in the construction of the overbridge, raising serious concerns about the project's safety and durability. "If this is the condition at the beginning of the work, what can we expect in the future?" questioned a local resident. The incident has sparked a demand for an immediate inquiry into the construction practices and the quality of materials being used.
