All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), the government of West Bengal, which has maintained a clear distance from Congress during this legislative session, attended a Congress-led Opposition strategy meeting on Monday. The TMC of Mamata Banerjee took part in a black protest against the party's unexpected decision to strip Rahul Gandhi of his MP status.

Days after referring to Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister Modi's "greatest TRP," West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a rare show of TMC unity.
Curiously, Mamata Banerjee offered support to Rahul Gandhi over his disqualification, asserting that the Opposition leaders had turned into "the prime target of the BJP," days after accusing the BJP of attempting to make a hero out of Rahul Gandhi to deflect attention from the pressing concerns.
“In PM Modi’s New India, Opposition leaders have become the prime target of BJP! While BJP leaders with criminal antecedents are inducted into the Cabinet, Opposition leaders are disqualified for their speeches. Today, we have witnessed a new low for our constitutional democracy,” the Trinamool Congress chief tweeted.
Jahar Sarkar and Prasun Banerjee, TMC MPs, represented the party at a strategy meeting on Monday in an effort to show the party's support for the Congress in light of Rahul Gandhi's disqualification as a Lok Sabha MP following his conviction in a 2019 defamation case.
