Kolkata Airport makes history by welcoming first Giant Airbus Beluga XL
After landing at Imphal airport, Maliwal said she wanted to meet the survivors of the sexual assault that was captured on the viral video and assess whether they had received any legal help, counseling, or compensation.
"I will go straight to the CM's office, I want to meet Chief Minister N Biren Singh. I want to meet the survivors of sexual abuse and see if they have legal help, counseling, or any compensation. I am appealing to the Manipur government that I have come here to help the people of the state, please let me do it," she said in a report.
Maliwal said she did not fly to the northeastern state to do politics and further requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani to also visit Manipur.
Earlier in the day, the DCW chief claimed that the Manipur government had denied her permission to visit the strife-torn state due to the "law and order situation", contrary to its earlier permission to allow her in the state.
“I have received a letter from the Manipur government suggesting that I postpone my visit given the law and order situation in the state. I only want to go there because there is law and order and sexual assault survivors. Manipur CM himself claimed that there are hundreds of similar cases. I want to visit and extend help,” she said in a report.
