A devastating earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale, hit Nepal on Friday night, killing at least 133 people.
The impact of the quake was felt in Kathmandu and surrounding districts. Strong earthquake tremors were even felt in Delhi and NCR at 11.35 pm on Friday night. The National Seismological Center then informed that its intensity was measured at 6.4 on the Richter scale and its center was found 10 kilometers below Nepal. Since then there were fears that this could cause huge loss of life and property in Nepal. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake and subsequent aftershocks killed around 9,000 people in Nepal in 2015.
At present, relief and rescue work has been started only in the accessible areas. With the onset of morning, relief work is being expedited even in remote areas. Only after this the exact number of dead and losses can be estimated.
