A horrific fire tragedy unfolded in Delhi's Dwarka Sector-13 on Tuesday morning, claiming the lives of a 35-year-old man and his two young children. The fire erupted on the eighth and ninth floors of Shapath Society, a residential complex near MRV School, around 9:58 am.
In a desperate attempt to escape the engulfing flames, Yash Yadav, along with his 10-year-old son and daughter, jumped from the ninth-floor balcony. All three sustained critical injuries and were declared dead shortly after being taken to nearby hospitals. Mr. Yadav was involved in the flex board business.
His wife and elder son survived the blaze and are currently receiving medical treatment at IGI Hospital. Meanwhile, fire personnel deployed eight tenders and a sky lift to douse the flames and conduct rescue operations. All residents of the building have been safely evacuated, and electricity and gas lines have been cut off to prevent further hazards.
The Delhi Development Authority and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi have been asked to evaluate the building’s structural safety. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.
