NIA searches Saokat Molla’s home and party office, son questioned in Bhangar blast case
A terror alert has been sounded in Delhi following intelligence inputs suggesting that Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) may be planning an attack targeting religious places, particularly a temple near the Red Fort in the Chandni Chowk area. Security agencies are assessing the inputs, which indicate a possible improvised explosive device (IED) plot.
According to intelligence sources, the group is allegedly seeking to avenge a February 6 blast at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, and may be planning a major strike in India. Reports indicate that a temple in the vicinity of the Red Fort could be a potential target as part of the suspected plan.
While the threat inputs are being verified, security has been heightened around sensitive religious sites and crowded public areas in the national capital. Officials said central agencies and Delhi Police units are maintaining close coordination to prevent any untoward incident.
Surveillance has been intensified through CCTV monitoring, vehicle checks and the deployment of additional personnel at vulnerable locations. Bomb disposal squads, dog squads and quick reaction teams have also been placed on standby at strategic points across the city.
The latest alert comes amid continued concerns over potential terror threats to Delhi in recent months. Authorities said they remain vigilant and are taking all precautionary measures to ensure public safety.
