Delhi Police denied permission for Hanuman Jayanti procession in Jahangirpuri area

The Delhi Police on Wednesday denied permission to take our Hanuman Jayanti procession to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and other groups in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on April 6.

The VHP and other groups had sought permission to hold processions for Hanuman Jayanti, but the organizers were denied permission due to the law and order situation, Delhi Police said. Ahead of Hanuman Jayanti, extensive security measures are in place in the area to avoid any trouble, according to the police. Paramilitary personnel and Delhi Police are patrolling the area.

A Ram Navami idol procession in the Jahangirpuri area was rejected by the Office of the Commissioner of Police (North West Delhi) last month.
Police rejected a Hindu devotee's request for permission to hold the annual event, citing law and order.

Last year in 2022, during the 'Sobha Yatra' on Hanuman Jayanti, a heated argument between the two communities resulted in stone pelting and a stampede in the procession. The procession was reportedly stopped by accused Ansar Sheikh and his accomplice near Jama Masjid.
