Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
An Air India Express flight travelling from Delhi to Ranchi was diverted to Kolkata on Tuesday morning after dense fog reduced visibility at Ranchi airport, preventing a safe landing. The aircraft, which was scheduled to arrive in Ranchi around 10 am, was redirected by Air Traffic Control due to poor weather conditions.
According to airport officials, the heavy fog significantly affected flight operations in the region, leading to disruptions at the airport. Several other flights arriving in Ranchi were also delayed by 30 minutes to one hour as pilots waited for visibility conditions to improve before attempting to land.
Passengers faced inconvenience due to the delays and diversion, with some travellers waiting at the airport and others experiencing disruptions to connecting flights. Authorities said operations were gradually returning to normal as weather conditions improved, while the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in several districts of Jharkhand over March 10 and 11.
