IMD warns of severe storms, hail, and heavy rain across Bengal; IPL opener at risk
A food delivery agent and his accomplices vandalised vehicles and fired gunshots outside a businessman’s house in Ghaziabad after the customer failed to answer a call regarding his order. The shocking incident, which took place on Saturday morning, led to the arrest of three individuals, including the delivery agent.
According to police, the victim, Aadhar Chaudhary, a brick kiln businessman, was on a long phone call around 9 AM when the delivery agent attempted to reach him. When Chaudhary finally answered, the agent allegedly abused and threatened him. Angered by the customer’s protest, the delivery agent vowed to “teach him a lesson.”
An hour later, five to six bike-borne men, including the delivery agent, arrived at Chaudhary’s residence. The group fired gunshots into the air and vandalised vehicles parked on the premises, damaging two cars, two scooters, and a bike. The entire act was captured on CCTV, which showed the attackers wielding sticks and causing destruction.
Hearing the commotion, locals gathered at the scene, but the attackers fled before they could be confronted. Chaudhary immediately reported the incident to the police, who launched an investigation based on CCTV footage and witness statements. Nandgram ACP Poonam Mishra confirmed that three people, including the delivery agent, had been taken into custody.
Authorities are now working to identify and apprehend the remaining accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was premeditated, with the suspects deliberately targeting Chaudhary over the phone call dispute. The involvement of illegal firearms has also raised concerns about rising incidents of street crime in the area.
The incident has sparked outrage, with residents demanding stricter action against the attackers and better regulation of food delivery personnel. As the investigation continues, police have assured the public that all those involved will be brought to justice.
