A fresh departmental inquiry has been ordered against suspended doctor Abhik De in connection with the RG Kar case, with Governor RN Ravi initiating the probe over alleged irregularities in his postgraduate admission under the service quota system at SSKM Hospital.
The renewed action comes amid allegations that Abhik De was seen inside the RG Kar Medical College seminar hall during the “Abhaya” incident, which has been cited as part of the ongoing scrutiny in the case. The inquiry will also examine his role and conduct linked to the incident and related administrative concerns.
BJP MLA and doctor Indranil Khan welcomed the decision, stating that action against individuals allegedly obstructing justice in the “Tilottama case” has begun. He alleged that certain persons involved in the system had engaged in evidence manipulation and corruption within the health department, and said accountability measures should have been taken earlier.
Junior doctor and protest leader Aniket Mahato also demanded strict action against all individuals allegedly associated with “threat culture” in medical colleges, calling for systemic reforms and stronger accountability mechanisms within healthcare institutions.
