A massive fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a departmental store located in Ghushuri, triggering panic among residents. The fire started on the ground floor of a residential building, and within minutes, thick smoke and flames spread across the area. Locals rushed to help residents evacuate from the building, saving several lives in the process.
Three fire engines reached the spot and brought the flames under control after nearly three hours of continuous effort. However, by the time the fire was doused, the shop had been completely reduced to ashes, with goods worth lakhs destroyed.
The shop owner alleged that the entire store was gutted due to the delayed arrival of fire engines, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly. Meanwhile, initial assessments by the fire brigade and police suggest that the blaze might have been caused by firecrackers.
Authorities have launched an investigation to confirm the cause of the fire and assess the extent of damage to nearby properties.
