Deputy Mayor Atin Ghosh says Kolkata reduces TB and Dengue cases, but surprised by funding cut | Watch

Kolkata's Deputy Mayor, Atin Ghosh, stated that Kolkata and West Bengal have made significant progress in controlling tuberculosis (TB) and dengue, with a noticeable reduction in the number of reported cases. However, he expressed concern over the central government's decision to stop funding for TB eradication programs and dengue control over the last two to three years, which had been crucial for the state's efforts. Ghosh emphasized that while politics often influences decisions, halting such funding for vital healthcare initiatives is detrimental to public health. He called for the restoration of these funds to maintain the gains made in reducing these diseases.
